Instagram just rolled out four new analytics features that give creators a deeper look into how their content is performing—and more importantly, why it’s performing the way it is.
From pinpointing the exact second someone likes your Reel to understanding exactly who’s engaging with each post, these updates are all about helping you create smarter, more strategic content. Here’s what’s new:
Carousels are one of the most powerful formats on Instagram, but until now, there was no way to know which slide got the like. With Carousel Like Insights, you can now see exactly which frame viewers were on when they double tapped.
Why it matters:
This helps you identify the images, headlines, or designs that get the most engagement so you can replicate that success in future posts. If a specific style of photo or graphic is consistently the winner, you might want to rethink your opening frame or double down on that style.
Reels already give you a general sense of engagement, but now you can go deeper. Reels Like Insights shows you the exact moment in your video when someone liked it.
Why it matters:
If you see most likes happening in the first five seconds, it could mean your hook is strong but your retention needs work. If the spike is at the 20-second mark, maybe that’s where your funniest moment or most valuable tip lands.
You can now find Top Content by Follows in the Followers section of your Insights. This metric tells you exactly which posts are driving the most growth.
Why it matters:
Not all high-engagement posts lead to growth. This feature separates “viral but not converting” content from the posts that actually build your audience. Once you know what’s attracting new followers, you can create more of it intentionally.
Previously, you could only see your demographic breakdown (age, gender, country) for your followers as a whole. Now, Post-Level Demographics lets you see that breakdown for each individual post.
Why it matters:
This is a game-changer for creators who reach multiple audiences. You’ll know exactly who’s engaging with each piece of content so you can tailor your topics, tone, and timing to match the people you want to reach.
More data means better decisions. With these new Instagram insights, you’ll spend less time guessing what works and more time creating content that’s proven to perform.
Now’s the time to dive into your analytics, test different styles, and let the numbers guide your next moves. Your future self—and your engagement rate—will thank you.
