Instagram has just released new analytics and growth tools to public accounts, meaning you no longer need to be registered as a professional or business account to see your insights.
This new update removes a big barrier to entry for creators just getting started. For the first time, anyone with a public account can tap into real data about who’s watching, what content resonates, and when their audience is most active.
New creators will now be able to build the foundation of their business or brand based on analytics, making early decisions with confidence rather than guesswork. No more guessing what your audience wants, because you now have a much stronger launchpad for success.

Instagram is gamifying growth. As your account develops, you unlock progressively more powerful features, like Trial Reels, Broadcast Channels, and Instagram Live. The more you post, engage, and row, the more tools Instagram puts in your hands. Once you hit 1,000 followers, you can upgrade to a professional account for access to monetization and ads tools, opening the door even further to turning your content into income.
Every Instagram creator used to face the same cold start problem: no data, therefore no direction. These tools change that because you’re now entering the platform with a toolkit that was previously reserved for established accounts.
Creators can now identify their best-performing content early and double down on what’s working. Instead of spending months testing with minimal feedback, you get immediate signal on what to keep doing, and what you should probably leave behind.
In settings, go to your Account Type and Tools. You’ll see a list of features unlocked for your account at its current stage. Pick one that aligns with your goals and start experimenting! If you’re looking for more ways to start building your content creation strategy, try Planoly’s Social Planner, where you can unlock free stock imagery and video, AI caption writer, and stay organized in our media library.
Whether you want to grow your reach, understand your audience, or build toward monetization, there's an Instagram feature ready to help you take that next step.
