Above all, authenticity is key. Don’t waste your energy building a brand that doesn’t resonate with your true passions.

What is a mantra you follow or the best piece of advice you received?

Have fun and be happy. If your life isn’t fun or happy for you (or those around you), then what’s the point? Achieving happiness is not always easy. Happiness comes after fulfillment, success, and sacrifice. Being happy tomorrow often requires you to make sacrifices or take risks today.

What is your dream brand partner?

I would love to partner with an influential company like Junglekeepers, who work to preserve and protect the Amazon Rainforest. This company is associated with Paul Rosolie, who I admire and respect as a captivating creator in the wildlife and conservation space. Their brand mission aligns perfectly with mine.

Do you have a favorite book you’ve read (or re-read)?

Empire of the Summer Moon stands out to me as a symbol of the wild brutality of Mother Nature, and the sorrow of her conquest. We humans often seek to tame and develop everything we see. I’ve watched beautiful ecosystems turn into concrete shopping centers my entire life. This book chronicles the Comanches, the last Native American tribe to resist U.S. forces. As world leaders decimated Native American life and altered the landscape, the Comanches chose to fight until the end. I have deep admiration and respect for Native Americans and wildlife.

Where is your favorite place to Planoly

Anywhere and everywhere. RoadtripMonster LLC was given its name since wildlife photography, storm-chasing, and other outdoor activities require long road trips. I am constantly traveling, and therefore, I am constantly using Planoly on the go. Whenever I find myself bored, I usually pull out Planoly to play around with my images in an attempt to discover the best possible layout for my page.

Why I Planoly...

Jack’s success in growing his community of followers stems from his ability to connect with those who share his genuine passion for wildlife. People crave more than just stunning photos; they want to glimpse the life of a wildlife photographer, feel his passion, and be part of the experience.

It takes a mix of emotion, passion, humor, knowledge, and artistry to truly capture people's hearts—sometimes, even just one of these elements is enough. He finds himself collaborating with other like-minded photographers more frequently now that his page has reached a high level of visibility.

"Stay true to yourself, have fun, and be kind."

Standing Out in the Wild

Finding a platform that streamlines the content creation is essential to keep momentum going along his 9-5. Specifically, one that is reliable, allows you to be innovative, and visualize how the post will appear when it’s live. Standing out from other wildlife photography accounts isn’t easy, and he’s thankful for Planoly’s capability of grouping complimentary color schemes and positioning images in a way that aligns each landscape’s mountainous skyline.

Above all, being friendly and polite while engaging with your community can make a huge difference. Authenticity is key. Don’t waste your energy building a brand that doesn’t resonate with your true passions.

Breaking the Cycle

Down the road (no pun intended), Jack strives to purchase an ecotourism business in a vulnerable ecosystem, eager to fight habitat loss. While time and resources stand in the way of making this a reality, he appreciates that his full-time job funds his road trips and photography gear. He remains optimistic that he will break this cycle one day!

For others looking to grow their community on Instagram, Jack stresses consistency. He made daily posts for nearly five years before his Instagram page really took off. Also, stay true to who you are — don’t do anything at the expense of your ethics. It’s not worth it, and it can hinder your progress. Stay true to yourself, have fun, and be kind.
